Couples Therapy

When relationships feel stuck, there is a way forward

Most couples don’t seek therapy because they’ve failed. They come because something that once worked no longer does, and the distance or conflict has become hard to ignore.

Couples therapy offers a steady place to slow things down, understand what’s happening between you, and begin to change the patterns that keep getting in the way of connection.

When Couples Therapy Can Help

Couples often reach out when:

  • communication feels tense, repetitive, or shut down

  • conflict escalates quickly or never fully resolves

  • one or both partners feel unheard, unseen, or alone

  • trust has been strained or connection has faded

  • anxiety, low mood, stress, or past trauma is affecting the relationship

You don’t need to know exactly what the solution is before you begin.

How the Work Happens

The focus of couples therapy is not to decide who is right or wrong.

It is to understand the patterns that have developed between you — often unintentionally — and to find new ways of responding to one another with greater clarity and care.

Together, we work to:

  • slow down reactive cycles

  • increase emotional awareness and regulation

  • improve communication and boundaries

  • support repair and reconnection

The work is collaborative, practical, and grounded in respect for both partners.

A Relational Focus

Every couple brings their own histories, stressors, and ways of coping into the relationship. Understanding how these shape your interactions can open space for empathy, steadiness, and change.

Couples therapy helps partners move from feeling stuck or adversarial toward feeling more aligned and understood.

Faith and Personal Values

For couples who wish, therapy can gently honour faith and personal values as part of the work. This is always guided by what feels meaningful and appropriate to both partners.

Fees

Couples therapy sessions are offered online and are $200 per 50-minute session and are paid at the time of service.

Many extended health plans offer coverage for psychotherapy — please check with your provider to confirm your benefits.

If you have questions about fees or coverage, we are happy to talk them through with you.
